Biography
Dušan Kos, born in 1963 in Ljubljana. Education: In 1986, he graduated from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana with the title of univ. dipl. historian. In 1989–1992, he specialized in history and auxiliary historical sciences at the Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung (Universität Wien), passed the state exam in June 1992. Master's degree in 1993 at the Faculty of Arts, Ljubljana. Doctorate from the same faculty in 1994. Academic and scientific titles: 1987 graduate historian, 1993 master of historical sciences, 1994 doctor of historical sciences. In 1994–1995 research associate, 1995–2000 senior research associate, since 2000 scientific advisor. In the years 1995–2001, assistant professor of Slovenian history and auxiliary historical sciences at the Department of History and the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana, in the years 2002–2003, associate professor of Slovenian history and auxiliary historical sciences at the aforementioned departments. From 2005 to 2013, associate professor of Slovenian history and auxiliary historical sciences at the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities in Koper. Employment: since 1987 at the Scientific Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Milka Kos Institute of History). In the years 2005–2013, supplementary employment at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities in Koper for the course Auxiliary Historical Sciences. Awards: 1. "Student Prešeren Award of the University of Ljubljana" for 1986 for the work "Medieval Colonization of Bela Krajina and the Problem of the Borders of Southeast Carniola". 2. KLIO Award of the Association of Historical Societies of Slovenia for Research Work in Historiography for 2018 for the work "The History of Morality 2". He has references from almost forty years of scientific work in the field of publishing written sources and studying economic, social and cultural history in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Ages, as from 1987 to 2025 he independently published 27 monographs in this field, and another one in co-authorship; he has also published 65 longer chapters in scientific monographs and original scientific treatises in domestic and foreign professional journals, and has participated as an invited lecturer at international scientific conferences. He has led several fundamental and applied projects of the Ministry of Science or the Slovenian Research and Development Agency.
