Biography
Janja Vuga Beršnak, PhD, is Full Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. Her research interests include military sociology, peace operations and crisis management. She is a research collaborator with the Department of Psychology at the University of Klagenfurt and occasionally with NATO research groups. She is also a board member of European Research Group on Military and Society as well as a coordinator of its working group Military families. She has conducted field research among members of the Slovenian Armed Forces in KFOR (Kosovo) UNIFIL (Lebanon) Tchad/Car (Chad), as well as among members of different militaries in the ISSMI school (Italy, Rome). She was head of the scientific research project (ARIS) Military Specific Risk and Protective Factors for Health and Well-being of Military Families, while currently she is leading projects on Staff Retention in the SAF (MOD) as well as Socioecological Dynamic Models of Mental Health: Crisis Burden among Professions of Critical Importance for the Society (ARIS). She teaches in the courses Sociology and Political Science of the Military, Security Sector and Society, Crisis Management and Contemporary Security, International Operations and Missions, Research Seminar, Defence and Security System and Military Operations.
