|
Mitja Kos is Head of the Department of Social Pharmacy and a professor of social pharmacy at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, Slovenia. His scientific and professional activities focus on the effectiveness and safety of medicines, pursued through health technology assessment and the development of pharmacy cognitive services aimed at optimizing medication use. He is the past Chairman and board member of Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe, which aims to research and develop pharmacist’s contributions to the care of individuals in order to optimize medicines use and improve health outcomes. With a similar function he is also involved in the work of the expert group within Slovene Chamber of pharmacy that assures the development, implementation and quality of medication review services in clinical practice. He is a member of the Health Council at the Ministry of Health of the Republic Slovenia and several expert commissions. He is an Honorary Life Member of Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe and International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation. For his past work, he has received Minařik recognition award from the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society.
