Abstract
Physiological events involved in in vitro and in vivo fertilization will be the basis of our research (6 studies).
I. Inhibin A and B as indicators of gonadal activity
II. Correlation between implantation ability and uterine artery blood flow in women with polycystic ovarian disease will be studied; besides we shall analyze the critical factor (renin) involved in the development of ovarian hyperstimulation and its local and systemic effects.
III. Pathophysiology of severe ovarian hyperstimulation will be evaluated using the analysis of interleukin concentrations in the follicular fluid at the time of premature and in-time aspiration of ovarian follicles in women with exaggerated ovarian response.
IV. In low or absent response to ovarian stimulation the discriminatory zone of IGF1 as a marker of ovarian responsiveness will be determined, and growth hormone dependent and independent factors will be analyzed.
V. Azoospermia, the condition without spermal cells in the ejaculate, will be studied in patients without spermatozoa in the epididymis and testis. Oocytes will be fertilized with spermatids, i.e. with spermatozoa at the developmental stage having the haploid chromosome set.
VI. Preimplantation diagnosis of genetic diseases will be introduced using extra embryos at the three-pronuclear stage (these embryos are rejected in routine procedures). Blastomere isolation using YAG-laser and other methods for blastomere isolation will be used.
