Povzetek
The reason for this project stems from the facts that new generations of students at our Faculty have a very modest knowledge of the European Integration and that political and social support to markets integration in Europe has been worsening in the past few years. In this project the curricula, the pedagogical contents and print and electronic didactic materials (in Slovenian and in Croatian) on the European Union and the European Integration processes in general will be developed and implemented. They will be supplemented by the organization of topic-related Seminars and a Conference for teachers of primary and secondary schools and vocational education and training institutions in Eastern Slovenia and the neighbouring Croatian region as well as the organization of topic-related Workshops for pupils/students of these schools and education institutions. The cooperation between the University and the target groups in this project will enhance the awareness about the importance of knowledge of the European Union and the European Integration processes among target institutions and broader public. These institutions will realize that European contents in their curricula and their development strategies represent a competitive advantage, and that without these contents they can hardly be recognized as the institutions which are in line with the demands of the contemporary globalized environment. The teachers will gain new ideas of how to refresh and supplement their curricula with the contents that widen their pupils' and students' horizons and recognize that it is vital for the future generations of EU citizens to gain core knowledge of this regional integration. The project will also help spread and positively accept the idea of regional integration, the ideas of openness of societies, a tolerance towards cultural, religious and political diversity and the opportunities for studying, working and living in other European Union member states.
