One of the partners in the international project is also farmaceutical company Lek from Ljubljana. Their collaborators intend to transfere the A. niger genes into Streptomyces clavuligerus which is used for the production of clavulanic acid. Industrial partners will have on opportunity to learn the techniques of recombinat DNA technology which will be possible because of the broader international consortium where some experts from foreign Universities are taking part as well. A new aspect of improving the biotechnological fermentations on the basis of studies of microbial physiology will be introduced into Slovenian biotechnological industry.
