Micro- and mesoporous crystalline zeolite-, aluminophosphate- and aluminosilicate-based materials act as effective heterogeneous catalysts and are thus very interesting to slovenian chemical industry. From the feedback from industry a direct interest regarding the topic of the program, its defined goals and the appropriate scientific approach to achieve them is evident. Mesoporous types of products are, due to their specific structure, more appropriate as adsorbents, pigments, catalyst supports and insulation materials. The research work for several industrial partners in the program has been considerably shifted to the area of applied research, and sometimes these have also included in part a development phase. The main topic of the research program also forms a basis for a postgraduate education in the study of inorganic syntheses combined with contemporary methods of instrumental characterization (X-ray- and synchrotron diffraction and solid-state NMR spectroscopy).
