Matej Hriberšek: Dr Josip Tominšek - an advocate of classical education

Dr Josip Tominšek (1872–1954) was a classical philologist and a public intellectual who for most of his working life was active in education as a teacher, headmaster, textbook author as well as a school supervisor. Like various contemporary German, Austrian and British classicist, whom he read, he was an ardent advocate of classical education, which he propagated in Slovenia. Although some of his writings are over a hundred years old, his arguments for the importance of classical education are still valid today.
