Genotyping and expression studies of candidate genes involved in cattle mastitis (Bos taurus)

In the case / control study and genotype profiling the genetic background of susceptibility for mastitis was studied in cows. Three candidate genes, MBL2, SPP1 and Lf were genotyped and association study with SSC was performed. At MBL2 locus gene the GA genotype variant was associated with mastitis, at Lf locus, the association with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity of Lactoferrin was found.

Gene expression and genetic polymorphisms associated with mastitis resistance in goats

The work highlights association between SCC and the expression of the immune genes lactoferrin and osteopontin and TLR2. SNP in TLR2 gene at site 739 affects SCC in goats, GG genotype has high SCC, GA genotype medium and AA genotype low SCC. The replacement of guanine with adenosine at position 739 in TLR2 gene also has a beneficial effect on milk production. There is also correlation between the relative expression of the LTF and SPP1 gene with SCC, but not significant..

Mastitis Database resource

The database combines data on candidate loci for resistance / susceptibility for mastitis, which were obtained using different methodological approaches, are from different sources and were manually curated.
