On estimation in relative survival

The advances in the relative survival field achieved through this project are resulting in several invited lectures by our researchers. This special edition of two-day meetings of the Danish Society of Theoretical Statistics was held by the leading European biostatistics department and attracted many important researchers from northern Europe. As one of only five foreign guests, our research group was invited to give a lecture and present our recent results. Having presented alongside with some of the biggest names of European biostatistics is an honour and a proof of the success of this project. At the same time it is an indicator of our strong collaborations with this institute that helps us stay in the center of the research in our field.

On some practical issues in the analysis of survival data

This invited lecture is a part of the collaboration in STRATOS, an international research project aiming at writing review papers and guidelines for the methodology in observational studies. Our work in the relative survival project has enabled us to form a part of the 8-member group of researchers that deal with guidelines in survival analysis. This cooperation enables us to be in the center of the research of our field.

Methodology in relative survival

An invited lecture at a conference for researchers in medicine - an important part of our project is also the practical aspect of our results. We are trying to make our methods widely used (by the help of user-friendly software, epidemiological papers, lectures and courses), the presentation at this conference is one of the results of this work and has lead to new international collaborations.

Pseudo observations in relative survival estimation

We were invited to host an invited session (as well as to give a lecture) on recent advances in survival analysis at the Royal Statistical Society annual meeting. In the lecture, we presented the results of our project on the usage of pseudo-observations in relative survival.

relsurv: Relative survival

One of the key goals of the project was to make the method directly usable. This goal has been reached by implementing the methods in the framework of the relsurv package in the open-source statistical software R. The package is a complete collection of the methodology of relative survival with user-friendly syntax and thus enables a direct usage of the results of this project in practice.
