Round Robin Test for the comparison of spectral emittance measurement apparatuses

Spectrally selective properties of absorber coatings were evaluated with different approaches. It is evident, that thermal emittance measurmernts at high temperature are influenced by measurements apparatus.

The effect of sol-gel boehmite coatings on the corrosion and decarburization of C45 steel

Sol–gel boehmite coatings were produced on the polished surfaces of hypo-eutectoid C45carbon steel by dip coating.It was found that for crack-free coatings, the drying temperature needs to be ?150 °C. Properly heat-treated boehmite coatings then improve the corrosion resistance of steel, while proposed alumina coatings derived from the boehmite coatings during annealing of the steel affect the decarburization.

POSS-modified black pigment for CSP deployment

This paper describes the surface functionalization of copper manganese ferrite black spinel pigment nanoparticles with glycidyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (GPOSS) monomers. Functionalized pigment nanoparticles possess a chemical bond between the modifier and the surface of their pigment particles. The proper epoxy functionalization of pigment also provides a connection to the metal alloy substrates, prolonging the lifetime of CSP receivers. The purpose of the functionalization is to protect the pigment nanoparticles against the diffusion of metallic ions from metal alloy substrates under a high thermal load in air.

Merging of oxide species with black spinel structure by CSP operating temperature

Our experiences with coating development and lifetime assessment guide our investigation of pigment degradation in receiver coating systems. The present article describes in detail the structure and morphology of the high-solar-absorptivity pigment Black 444 as a candidate for concentrated solar power receivers coating. Furthermore, this work discloses the unit cell changes upon addition of metallic ions and thermal loading. Our conclusions are based on ICP-OES analysis, IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction patterns, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron measurements results.

Optimized frequency dependent photothermal beam deflection spectroscopy

In the letter the optimization of the experimental setup for photothermal beam deflection spectroscopy is performed by analyzing the influence of its geometrical parameters (detector and sample position, probe beam radius and its waist position etc) on the detected signal.
