CERAMPOL

V okviru projekta EU 7 OP CERAMPOL in v sodelovanju z raziskovalnim partnerjem HIPOT-RR smo modelirali in izdelali vibracijski sistem za čiščenje odpadnih vod velikosti 20 cm x 20 cm. Na porozno keramično podlago smo integrirali prevodnik in zaščitno plast z metodo sitotiska ter piezoelektrični aktuator Pb(Zr,Ti)O3. Projektni partnerji, ki so testirali vibracijski sistem v realnih pogojih obratovanja, so ugotovili, da je učinkovitost čiščenja voda z uporabo piezoelektrika večja kot pri klasičnim sistemu.

Relation between the microstructure and the electrocaloric effect of relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Mg[sub](1/3)Nb[sub](2/3))O[sub]3-PbTiO[sub]3 ceramics

In the contribution the effect of the grain size of 0.9Pb(Mg[sub](1/3)Nb[sub](2/3))O[sub]3-0.1PbTiO[sub]3 (PMN-10PT) ceramics on the electrocaloric temperature change of the material is studied. We showed that a substantial enhancement of the EC effect is achieved with a properly engineered ceramic microstructure. Highly dense bulk ceramics with grain sizes in the micron range (≈ 2 µm to ≈ 10 µm) were prepared. The material with ≈ 98 % relative density and 3.6-μm grains is characterized by a high breakdown strength exceeding 160 kV cm-1, and a large EC temperature change (ΔTEC) of 3.45 °C. This value is the highest reported so far for Pb-based perovskites and is comparable to best results obtained by multi-critical-point enhancement.

Piezo 2015

The international conference PIEZO 2015: Electroceramics for End-users VIII was organised by Jožef Stefan Institute and Centre of Excellence NAMASTE and chaired by B. Malič (25.-28.1. 2015, Mariborsko Pohorje). The conference was dedicated to advances in electroactive, particularly piezoceramic, materials and devices with the aim to present the latest developments, use and application of piezoelectric materials and related technologies both to academic and industrial communities. There were 94 participants from 19 countries with about one third of participants from 18 companies.

Amorphous multicomponent dielectric based on the mixture of high band gap and high K materials, respective devices and manufacture

The american patent describes the invention of the processing of amorphous multicomponent high-K dielectric oxides for applications in transparent electronics. The invention is the result of collaboration beteen our research group (D. Kuščer, late M. Kosec) and colleagues from University Nova, Lisbon, Portugal.

Analysis of the cordierite material C 410 in the period October - December 2015

Members of the research group Danjela Kuščer in Silvo Drnovšek and colleagues from the company ETI Elektroelement d.d., Izlake, were awarded the Puh recognition for achievements and use of the scientific discoveries in the development of cordierite ceramics with a stable low coefficient of linear thermal expansion. Our research group has got a long-term collaboration with the company ETI
