15th Christmas Symposium of Physicists

Robnik is the organizer of the annual traditional meetings of Slovenian physicists since 2002, which became an importnat institution of the Slovenian physics. The jubilee 15th meeting of Slovenian Physicists, annual meeting, with reputable participation from abroad, with three working days, took place on 15-17 Dec 2016. The program comprises all fields of physics, as well as branches of mathematics which are important for physics, and all other scientific dsciplines, for which physics is importnat, especially the interdisciplinary fields. There is great national and international impact. www.camtp.uni-mb.si/fizmb/2016/index.sl.html

Robnik delivered invited lectures (4) at the elite 5th international PhD summer school-Conference Mathematical Modeling of Complex Systems, Patras, 20-30 July 2015

We review the fundamental concepts of quantum chaos in Hamiltonian systems. The quantum evolution of bound systems does not possess the sensitive dependence on initial conditions, and thus no chaotic behaviour occurs, whereas the study of the stationary solutions of the Schrödinger equation in the quantum phase space (Wigner functions) reveals precise analogy of the structure of the classical phase portrait. We analyze the regular eigenstates associated with invariant tori in the classical phase space, and the chaotic eigenstates associated with the classically chaotic regions, and the corresponding energy spectra. The effects of quantum localization of the chaotic eigenstates are treated phenomenologically, resulting in Brody-like level statistics, which can be found also at very high-lying levels, while the coupling between the regular and the irregular eigenstates due to tunneling, and of the corresponding levels, manifests itself only in low-lying levels.

Robnik gave an invited lecture at the elite conference dedicated to 85th birthday of Prof. Hermann Haken Selforganization in complex systems: the past, present and future of synergetics, Delmenhorst, 13-16 Nov 2012. Prof. Haken is the founder and the leading scientist of synergetics. The title of the invited lecture, published in 2016, is: Adiabatic invariants and some statistical properties of the time dependent linear and nonlinear oscillators

We consider 1D time dependent Hamilton systems and the time evolution of initial microcanonical distributions. In linear oscillator (LO) the distribution of energy is always arcsine distribution, and the adiabatic invariant at the average energy (AIAE)(and thus the entropy) always increases. In nonlinear (quartic) oscillator there are regimes of slow driving where the AIAE can decrease, but increases for faster driving. Near the adiabatic regime the distribution is similar to arcsine distribution; in general it depends on the dynamical details. We also consider parametrically kicked systems. We prove for all homogeneous power-law potentials that in a single parametric kick the AIAE always increases. The approximation of one kick is good for times up to one oscillation period. In LO only, due to isochronicity, an initial kick disperses the microcanonical distribution, but an antikick at the right phase can restore it. The periodic parametric kicking is also studied.
