Boosted ligands for Ru- & Rh-catalyzed asymmetric reduction

We presented our laboratory-developed ligands for Rh(I)- and Ru(II)-catalyzed reducion. Our new series of P-stereogenic diphospine and sulfamoylaminoamine ligands based respectively on Knowles’ DiPAMP and Wills’ 3C-[Teth-TsDPEN-RuCl], exhibit higher efficiency in the reduction of a wide variety of olefins or ketones. Furthermore, new nonclassical P-stereogenic 5- and 6-membered benzophosphacycles which are potential precursors to new ligands have been prepared by us and their syntheses was presented.

In the catalog of the Republic of Slovenia, enter the new variety of hops (Humulus lupulus L.) with approved name Styrian Cardinal, registered number HUL034

As a result of the hop breeding program in 2016, a new variety of hop (Humulus lupulus L.) with the name Styrian Cardinal was entered in the catalog of hop varieties. According to its chemical characteristics and the brewing value it is classified as a variety, which is one of flavor hops, which means that it possess a specific aromatic fragrance, which is not typical hoppy. It can be used basically for late hopping as well for dry hopping, mainly giving the fruity flavor of beer.

Symposium Advances in noncanonical nucleic acids, ANNA 2016

An international symposium with elite international participation entitled "Progress in noncanonical nucleic acids: ANNA 2016" was organized in Ljubljana between May 18 and 20, 2016. The scientific program consisted of presentataions enabling critical evaluation of recent discoveries in studies of nucleos(t)ide modifications, properties, stability and structure of nucleic acids. Symposium participants also presented the results of their latest research in the area of oligonucleotides in conjunction with their use in therapy. The symposium gathered leading scientists whose research involves chemical biology of nucleic acids. Simposium web page is available at http://www.slonmr.si/anna_2016/index.html.
