Inhibitors of NLP proteins as phytopharmaceuticals for plant pathogen control

The patent application was filed within the scope of phytopharmacy and relates to compounds that can serve as inhibitors of NLPs (“Nep1-like proteins”) and can be used for the control of plant pathogens, e.g. for controlling oomycetes of the genus Phytophthora causing potato or tomato blight. More specifically, the invention relates to inhibitors of NLP proteins that can be derived from two lead compounds that were selected and showed the inhibitory effect on necrosis upon leaf infiltration assay and growth of Phytophthora. These compounds were 2-[(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]benzoic acid and (2S,4R)-2-(6-methyl-4-oxochromen-3-yl)-1,3-thiazolidin-3-ium-4-carboxylate.
