Krka Prize for PhD thesis: Coordination compounds of first row transition metals with potential hypoglycemic activity.

Young researcher Tanja Koleša Dobravc developed synthesis of novel vanadium and zinc compounds with improved antidiabetic activity. Special achievement of her work is incorporation of 6-substituted analogues of pyridine-2-carboxylic acid on V and Zn. Prepared coordination compounds interact with blood serum proteins apo-transferrine and human serum albumin and in vitro inhibit free fatty acids release from adipocites. Results were published in four scientific papers (Inorg. Chem., 2014, 53, pp. 7960; Monatsh. Chem., 2014, 145, pp. 1263; New J. Chem., 2015, 39, pp. 4265; Acta Chim. Slov., 2015, 62, pp. 261). Dr. Tanja Koleša Dobravc received Krka Prize for her PhD thesis https://www.krkinenagrade.si/media/bin?bin.id=5877.
