Importance of peanut recombinant allergens and basophil activation test in peanut sensitivity

The project leader prof dr Peter Korošec was a mentor for PhD thesis Importance of peanut recombinant allergens and basophil activation test in peanut sensitivity. In this PhD thesis we showed that high basophil sensitivity in BAT test is directly connected with anaphylaxis. Low CD-sens levels exclude posibility of anaphylaxis or even peanut allergy. Peanut recombinant allergens are important in peanut allergy. Especially rAra h 2 express important allergenicity and is related with major clinical symptoms. Higher rAra h 2 levels and additional peanut recombinant allergens rAra h1 and h 3 increase the likelihood of peanut allergy. rAra h 9 showed now allergenicity in our population. Homologus allergens Ara h 8 and Bet v 1 are important in birch allergy. If rAra h 2 concentration was ) 0,35 KE/L then peanut allergy is suggested. In case of additionaly elevated concentrations of rAra h 1 and h 3 we can avoid additional peanut chalenge test in 85 %, what we can consider in diagnostic algorithm. Almost completely we can avoid peanut challenge in case of negative BAT testing results.

Integromics; a web platform for integration and prioritization of genomics data

Dr. Tanja Kunej; Invited lecture at the congres with international participation: 7th Congress of the Genetic Society of Slovenia and 7th Meeting of the Slovenian Society of Human Genetics, 20-23 September 2015, Rogaška Slatina, Slovenia. The lecture included presentation of the current state of our projects, databases and bioinformatics tools. In collaboration with the group of Professor Peter Korošec we extended the set of bioinformatics tools to the field of computational biomedicine and developed an application for visualization of dose-response curves.
