Conservation genetics of proteus in the Postojna-Planina Cave System

In the contribution we report on the utility of genetic tools for the conservation of endangered species, mainly proteus. We emphasize novel approaches that enable insight into the hitherto largely hidden, inaccessible and at the same time vulnerable environments of karstic subterranean waters.
