During 2015 and 2016 a field trial with ES Mentor soybean has been conducted on a laboratory field of Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana on medium deep silty-clay soil with installed drainage system. The influence of three row spacing widths (12.5 cm, 25 cm and 37.5 cm) with the same sowing density (60 germinating seeds/m2) on grain yield, thousand grain weight (TGW), plant height, height to the first pod and the number of stem nodes, shoots, pods and grains per plant has been evaluated. Average grain yield of two years has been 4.5 t/ha. Different row spacing in soybean in two year field trial did not have influence either on the soybean grain yield or on other studied parameters. Year 2015 has been more favourable for soybean production, as grain yield and other parameters have been higher in the first year of the experiment. The exception is TGW, which was higher in 2016. Number of pods (0.70), grains per plant (0.66) and plant height (0.43) strongly correlated with grain yield. Correlation between grain yield and TGW was negative (−0.56). Based on the results, the same row spacing can be recommended for conventional farming for the drilling of cereals.

The proplems about protein security in Europa were represented. In case of Slovenia the structe of protein crops at country level was represented, such as 2 scenarios for nitrogen fixation based of introduced soya into the country.
