Intracellular receptors TLR: molecular mechanism of TLR3 and TLR9 activation.

PloS one 2014, 9, doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0092391. [5462042, IF 3.534]; Pohar J, ..., BenĨina M, ..., Jerala R. 2014. The ectodomain of TLR3 receptor is required for its plasma membrane translocation. Intracellular receptor TLR3 which recognize double stranded RNA is localized intracellularly e.g. endosomes, and on plasma membrane. Increased expression of auxiliary protein UNC93B1 directs TLR3 on the plasma membrane. We have shown that ectodomain of receptor regulates expression of TLR3 on the plasma membrane. The knowledge is important for understanding the mechanism of receptor activation.
