The study deals with material analysis of mural paintings by the workshop of Frederic of Villach and his followers, especially his son Johannes from Ljubljana. Plasters, pigments, binders, painting techniques were examed with OM, SEM-EDX, FTIR and XRD, then results and painting procedures were compared. The palette used comprised mainly earth and mineral pigments, while an important difference between murals in the composition of plasters was discovered. The painting techniques and procedures are very similar and confirm workshop connections. The results contribute to a wider knowledge concerning the materials and techniques employed in gothic wallpaintings in the Alpine region.

The published paper represents an important achievement for its innovative approach and application of the methodology of quantitative analysis in the profiling of an individual as a collector, as well as the application of probate inventory data for reconstruction of the dispersed baroque collection. With statistical analysis of a preserved probate inventory it was possible to define the collection of Ignaz Maria count Attems (1652-1732) and to analyse the motives for its formation. By combining various data from the inventory (numbering, content, location in the palace, value) and linking it with the preserved material, it was possible to partially reconstruct the count's collection, which is now largely divided between Graz (Alte Gallerie, Universalmuseum Joanneum) and Ljubljana (National Gallery of Slovenia).

When Attitudes Become the Norm is a collection of texts by art historian and theorist Beti Žerovc on the topic of curatorship in contemporary art. Žerovc examines curatorship in its broader social, political and economic contexts, as well as in relation to the profound changes that have taken place in the art field over the last century. She analyses the curator as a figure who appears, evolves, and participates in the institutionalisation of contemporary art and argues that with the curator institutional art – art designed to fit the art institution’s space and needs – achieves its fullest expression.

The monograph deals with the typology of pilgrimage churches in the Baroque period. In the beginning of the 17th Century pilgrimages got quite a different shape in comparison to the medieval ones. As a religious practice they culminated in the first half of the 18th century, only to disappeared for a while towards the end of the 18th century. They led to the construction of many churches which were often designed as copies of some already existing (pilgrimage) church. Therefore, the typological classification has been chosen as the main methodological approach. In this way, after a careful survey of archival sources, combined with field work and interpretation of historical data, the typologically most influential churches were determined among the 13 different types of churches. Moreover, the monograph discusses several important architects (e. g. Jožef Hoffer, Lovrenc Prager), brings many new observations on single churches and their building histories and is therefore a first step to a new general survey of Baroque architecture in Slovenia.

The article (in German language) discusses Stephen, the master builder who in 1524 commissioned a votive mural for the church of Saint Luke in Prapreče near Lukovica, northeast of Ljubljana. A recently discovered signature with a master mason‘s mark in the presbytery on the vaulting just above the main altar proves that Stephen was also the architect of this church. Moreover, his mason‘s mark identifies him with the Master of Kranj, who in 1526 signed himself as the master builder of the parish church in Oprtalj in Istria. He was also active in the first three decades of the 16th century in other places, such as Štrped in Istria and Biljana near Gorizia.
