Albrecht Dürer and the woodcut illustrations for the Salus animae Prayer Book of 1503

The authorship of small woodcut illustrations for the prayer book Salus animae published in 1503 in Nuremberg divided Dürer-scholars in two equally prominent groups. The study of many copies after the series among Dürer's co-workers, pupils and other major and minor masters in Central Europe nevertheless suggests that to most of the 16th century artists and patrons the polemic would seem more or less pointless – for them the illustrations obviously often functioned as a more accessible source of Dürer's compositions and style. The lectures series »Dürer-Vorträge«, held annually in Nuremberg since 2002, is attended by German and international scholars to present the latest research on life and art of Albrecht Dürer.

New Spaces, New Images; Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana

The exhibition New Spaces, New Images, presenting a cross-section of the major exhibitions, events, and art spaces of the time, offered insight into the vivacious 1980s art scene in Slovenia. The documentation of the new spaces of both institutional and alternative art and their contextualisation into wider social events, characterized by new ways of artistic activity and integration, contributed to the historiography of the 1980s in Slovenian art.

Contemporary art and citizenship education

Sculpture in Fifteenth-century Dalmatia

Lecture at a traditional international symposium dedicated to the Renaissance sculpture, which is one of the main events on a global scale that brings together sculpture researchers. I presented the thesis that Dalmatia, with its sculptural production, in the 15th century had no character of the province, but became a regional center of sculpture production, which developed its own identity, and from where the sculptures were also exported to the places closer to the primary centers of sculpture production.

Art and its responses to changes in society

The book Art and its Responses to Changes in Society (Cambridge Scholars Publishing) brings together 13 studies dealing with the topics of transformations in art, of rebirth or decline of artistic phenomena, style or iconography in different fields of art: painting, sculpture, architecture, and visual media. The chapters also share common methodology: an interdisciplinary approach to the topics, focusing on social context of artistic creativity and its response to changes in society. As such, the book entails diverse perceptions of art and society, from antiquity to modernity, from the USA to former Yugoslavia, and from research on works of art to observations on art concepts. The idea for the book emerged at the conference Decline - Metamorphosis – Rebirth: International Conference for PhD Students and Recent PhD Graduates (2014).
