Forward osmosis of distillery wastewater - experimental results

The work mainly targets sugarcane molasses based alcohol distillery wastewater (DWW). The following aspects were discussed: (i) characteristics of this wastewater and its generation, (ii) existing treatment methods, (iii) problems associated with the current treatment options, (iv) future work involving Aquaporin forward osmosis (FO) membrane to improve the treatment process, and (v) recovery of polyphenolic compounds with antioxidant properties from the concentrated wastewater.
