Effect of various antioxidants in cell death-related oxidative stress

The poster displayed the effects of tocopherol, acetylcysteine, the SOD-mimetic MnTBAP and tempol in models of cell death triggered by TNF, sturosporin and menadione. The most efficient antioxidant was acetylcysteine, which efficiently blocked menadione-induced necrosis. Interestingly, Tempol was found to very efficiently blocked TNF-induced apoptosis, however, the effect was independent of its antioxidant properties.
