COBISS.SI-ID: 282733056International scientific conference Slovenes and Russians II, held on 4th of March 2015 in the Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre, explored the life and work of Russian emigrants after the First World War in Slovenia. Special attention was devoted to the causes for mass emigration from Russia and to the reception of Russian culture and civilization in different in Slovenia.
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
The contribution critically highlights the analysis of the position of Russia in the First World War, given by Rear-Admiral A. D. Bubnov. The latter saw the solution of Russian strategic problems in the conquest of the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles, but in doing so did not take sufficient account of the feasibility of such an ambitious and complex military operation. The collapse of the British operation to occupy the Dardanelles showed that a well-organized defense easily resisted amphibious operations of that time.
