Cathepsin X in cancer: molecular mechanisms and diagnostic and theraputic opportunities

At 14th International Conference on Proteinases, Inhibitors and Biological Control in Portorož, Slovenia, Janko Kos presented as invited lecturer the results on application of synthetic cathespin inhibitors in in vitro and in vivo studies of malignant processes. The conference is one of important events on the field of proteolysis and biological control.

Evaluation of amphyphilic radicals as inductors of apoptosis

In maste thesis of Ana Mevc amphyphilic radicals have been evaluated as inductors of apoptosis. The combination of amphyphilic radicals and specific protease inhibiors could improve the antitumour action of the latter.

Cathepsin B selective inhibition regulates extracellular matrix degradation and tumor invasion

In the Conference we presented the results of the use of synthetic inhibitors of cathepsin B in regulation of endo- and exopeptidase activity of cathepsin B. Only inhibitors of endopeptidase activity effectively impair the invasion of tumour cells.
