J4-5527 — Annual report 2013
1.
Genera in Bionectriaceae, Hypocreaceae, and Nectriaceae (Hypocreales) proposed for acceptances or rejection

Significant nomenclatural changes becoming effective on 1 January 2013 and having a great impact on the usage of fungal names by plant pathologists are reviewed. The separate naming of different morphs of many pleomorphic ascomycetes and basidiomycetes is not permitted anymore for establishing the »one name for one fungus« principle. As a result of an analysis, the generic naming of important plant pathogenic fungi and biological control agents was discussed and the use of Clonostachys over Bionectria, Trichoderma over Hypocrea, Fusarium over Gibberella, and Neonectria over Cylindrocarpon (etc.) recommended.
