Treatment planning for electrochemotherapy and irreversible electroporation

Basic principles of computer aided treatment planning of electroporation based tretments was presented at the 2014 EBTT international postgraduate course. Here, the students used a finite element model to optimize electrode positions and applied voltage to achieve complete coverage of the target tumour and minimize damage to healthy surrounding tissues. A linear and non-linear model of electroporation was used and the differences were examined. The importance of using a non-linear model was explained.
