1.
Chemically modified reduced grapheme oxide as a separator in Li-S batteries

The subject of the invention is a self-standing or deposited layer of a chemically converted graphene covalently functionalized with fluoroaromatics and its application in a battery setup. It behaves as a separator that is wetted with lithium conductive electrolyte and placed in between two electrodes with the different electrochemical potentials.

Surface modified materials for lithium sulphur batteries

Alen Vižintin, doctoral student at University of Ljubljana was working at National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana on modification of the surfaces in the different parts of Li-S battery. The goal of his study was improvement of battery performance and stability through modification of carbon based host matrices - introduction of heteroatoms and modification of separator. Results of his work are summarized in 5 per-reviewed papers and international patent application which will be granted in 2017.
