1.
Teaching at the under- and post-graduate level

Members of the project team prof. Nataša Zabukovec Logar, prof. Iztok Arčon, and prof. Gregor Mali hold several courses, Crystallography, X-ray spectroscopies, Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, Chemistry and Physics, at the faculties of the University of Nova Gorica. In these courses the students learn about the most important characterization techniques for solids, which can be employed in different areas of research, from nanomaterials to biologically interesting materials.

Mentorship to young researchers

Two young researchers obtained their PhD degrees on the topic of the project. Dr. Emanuela Žunkovič obtained her PhD degree at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical technology of the University of Ljubljana under the supervision of prof. Nataša Zabukovec Logar. dr. tomaž čendak obtained his PhD degree at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana under the supervision of prof. Gregor Mali. Both supervisor are also the members of the project team.

Invited lectures at international scientific simposia

Members of the project team had several invited lectures about the topic and the results of the work within the project. Among these lectures there are invited lectures at the Ampere NMR school in Poland, which is one of the scientifinc meetings in the field of magnetic resonance with the longest tradition in Europe, an invited lecture at the 57th Experimental NMR conference ENC in United States of America, which is currently recognized as the world's largest and most important meeting of NMR spectroscopists, an invited lecture about the application of X-ray spectroscopy at the 6th Slovenian-Croatian-Serbian symposium on zeolites, and several invited lectures about the sorption-based heat storage and about the mechanism of water sorption within microporous materials.

What will the future materials be like?

Nataša Zabukovec Logar and Gregor Mali presented the materials that are developed in their group, and the characterization methods that they employ for studying these materials in a television series at the Slovenian national television.

Nanoporous materials for advanced applications

In September 2014, members of the project team organized an international symposium about advanced nanoporous materials. The symposium gathered leading international experts, working in the field of zeolitic and metal-organic materials. Organization of such an event increases the visibility of the Slovene research groups and institutions and promotes the scientific collaboration among the Slovene and foreign research groups.
