I want to be creative, but … preference for creativity, perceived clear outcome goals, work enjoyment, and creative performance

In three studies, using both field and experimental data, we focused on transforming individuals’ preference for creativity, defined as an inclination for liking and wanting to be creative, into actual creativity. We found that transforming preferences for creativity into supervisor-rated creativity is contingent upon employees’ perceptions of clear outcome goals. Clear outcome goals fostered individuals’ preference for creativity to result in higher levels of supervisor-rated creative behaviour. The results also supported our mediated moderation model, whereby the manipulation of clear goals led to higher work enjoyment, influencing individuals’ preference for creativity to result in higher ratings of their creative outcomes. Dynamic capabilities and competitive advantage: findings from case studies

Our paper highlights the importance of the dynamic capabilities perspective as a field of study in today's dynamic environment. In our study we conducted in-depth interviews in six representative IT firms. The underlying assumption is that firms which are able to reconfigure their resources and capabilities in line with recognised opportunities and environmental change can create and sustain a competitive advantage. The results suggest that ignoring the deployment of a single dynamic capability can negatively affect the deployment of other dynamic capabilities since they are correlated and interwoven. However, our study reveals that innovation capability and managerial capability are more important in the process of creating and sustaining a competitive advantage.

Towards excellence in public administration: Organization Theory Based Performance Management Model

The purpose of the paper is to develop an integrated performance management model as an important pillar of excellence in public administration. The model is based on organization theory. It covers the sequential phases of the management process consisting of specific approaches indicators (measures) associated with the various stakeholders. The proposed model represented the basis for research on the use of performance management tools, approaches, and indicators on a sample of 104 public administration institutions in Slovenia. The proposed model extends and improves existing models as it first, consistently follows the governance-management process to assure excellence. Second, the model is developed on the basis of organization theory which assures repetitive use of the model over many time-periods. Third, all social units’ stakeholders are included in the model.

Knowledge sharing between different generations of employees

The study investigates how selected individual factors (i.e. willingness, motivation, communication, collaboration) impact upon the sharing of own knowledge with co-workers, using a sample of 268 employees.. In addition, it analyses the perceptions of the amount of knowledge shared through cross-generational mentoring relationships. Findings indicate motivation and willingness to be important factors in the knowledge sharing process. Furthermore, respondents, both younger and older, report that the amount of knowledge received in mentoring processes is less than what is desired.
