Fundamental of management

The textbook "Fundamentals of management: course guide" combines theory and practice in order to elaborate on the modern concepts of management functions and organization. The textbook deals with the fundamental functions of management, namely planning, organizing, leading and controlling. A number of illustrative examples from Slovenian and international business practice are included. The textbook also provides insight into the paradigm of leadership and trends of the 21st century. Controlling demonstrates the status of the organization and operations, successful management, such information may actively be used in all other functions.

International management (master-level course)

The purpose of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding and state-of-the-art knowledge of key concepts within the domain of International Management in order to understand the key challenges managers face in international markets and organizational settings (mainly multinational companies). The course highlights characteristics of international markets and firms, explores various types of multinational companies (Bartlett & Ghoshal typology), their strategic orientations and strategies, sources of competitive advantage, resources, structures and processes, as well as specific intra- and inter-organizational relationship issues (i.e. headquarter-subsidiary relationships, managing buyer-supplier relationships etc.). Moreover, the course also explores tools and frameworks to deal with internal and external cultural diversity (e.g. people management) as well as vital cultural intelligence while expanding corporate activities in a complex multicultural environment.
