Foundations of management and organization

Textbook is theoretically and practically grounded with the aim to make studying management and organization interesting for first year undergraduate students. Didactics of the textbook is a strong added value of the textbook. Textbook addresses management functions, such as planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Different cases are included from Slovenian and international business environment.

Challenges of leading

The paper presents the theoretical overview of leadership. Traditionally, leaders were perceived as people with outstanding characteristics and later behaviour of leaders was researched as specific to a given context. In recent years, from 2005 onwards, leaders’ autobiographies have been offered as a complementary source of leaders’ influence. In order to identify contemporary leadership challenges we provide reflection of management students at the Faculty of Economics University of Ljubljana, where leadership challenges reveal focus on mastering communication, coordination and motivation of co-workers.
