Congenital defects in domestic mammals

The publication is designed as an university textbook devided into three sections. It summarizes the etiology of congenital disorders (environmental, hereditary and non-hereditary factors and modes of transmission to offspring), describes general and specific congenital disorders and defines the importance of their monitoring, control and possibilities for eradication. The book deals with domestic mammals with empahsis on cattle.

Prospects and opportunities of milk production and processing in Slovenia

With the conference Prospects and opportunities of milk production and processing in Slovenia, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment opened up a wide debate on the challenges and solutions for the dairy sector after the abolition of milk quotas. All actors who participate to dairy chain and a representative of the EU were invited to the conference. The basic development issues of the milk production technology were presented in invited lecture. The following challenges were identified: spatial distribution of milk production, improving the efficiency of milk production, introduction of modern methods (technologies) of milk production, milk safety, retaining and building of the reputation of Slovenian milk and risk management.

Recommendations for suppression of common ragweed

Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.), and other related neophyte species of the genus Ambrosia, is a harmful plant, for which suppression is prescribed by the law in Slovenia. Land owners are therefore obliged to ensure the control over the spreading. The recommendations about the ways to suppress its spreading are described for different types of lands, including agricultural land.
