Meshless methods in modelling of materials and processes

In the invited lecture at 1st International Conference on Computational Design and Simulation of Materials, Shenyang, China, August 17-19, 2015 an overview of meshless simulations of our group of turbulent flow with electromagnetic fields on macroscopis and microscopic levels. The lecture triggered big interest of Chinese industry which subsequently led to first industrial contract of the group with this big market.

Simulation of hot shape rolling of steel by a meshless method

A meshless model of the hot rolling of steel has been developed, consisting of the coupled thermal model, mechanical model and model for node positioning and manipulation. Several examples of rolling of square billet into circular and rectangular profiles have been shown, together with sensitivity study on the influence of process parameters on temperature and deformation state of the billet. A part of the results of the doctoral dissertation has been accepted in the CMES journal and will appear in 2016.
