In vivo muscle electroporation threshold determination: realistic numerical models and in vivo experiments

The findings of our study can significantly contribute to better understanding of muscle and skin electroporation which is of great importance for sucsseful planning of electroporation based gene therapy and vaccination (including other electroporation based therapies). Our findings can significantly contribute to the translation these therapies into the clinical practice. Since the electroporation based gene therapy and vaccination are cost effective and easily implementable methods of administration they can be useful for treatment of chronic diseases where patients must be treated for years of even for their whole lifetime (e.g. diabetes, HIV).

An e-learning application on cell and tissue eletroporation [!]

We developed an interactive elearning application which provides the key knowledge for development, planning and improvement of therapies and treatments based on electroporation, such as clinical electrochemotherapy of cutaneous and subcutaneous tumors, electrochemotherapy of deepseated tumors (e.g. metastasis in liver tissue), gene therapy and vaccination and transdermal drug delivery. Our elearning application and its elearning content has been published in the international scientific journal which contributes to the further increase in scientific prominence of our research group, University and the Republic of Slovenia as a whole.

Electroporation of cells and tissues - interactive e-learning course

Laboratory of Biocybernetics organizes an International workshop and postgraduate school on electroporation based treatments and therapies, which is attended by students, young researchers and professors from around Europe and USA and other countries. Our e learning application was presented to the participants of the International workshop in 2011. Our elearning application enable the transfer and the exchange of knowledge worldwide, as such it increases the reputation of our research group, the University, and the Republic of Slovenia.

Electroporation of cells and tissues - interactive e-learning course

We developed and upgraded our interactive elearning application that provides educational content about electroporation process needed in development and planning of electroporation based therapies and treatments such as electrochemotherapy, gene therapy and vaccination and transdermal drug delivery. Faculty of Electrical Engineering (University of Ljubljana) organizes an International workshop and postgraduate school on electroporation based treatments and therapies (EBTT), which is every year attended by students and young researchers as well as by the leading experts from the field. We presented the e learning application to the participants of the International workshop EBTT organized in 2012. In 2012 the EBTT was attended by 64 participants from 13 countries (Argentina, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Nederland, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden and USA). Our elearning application that we developed during this posdoctoral research project enables the transfer and the knowledge exchange worldwide and as such it increases the reputation of our research group, the University of Ljubljana, and Republic of Slovenia. The application was furteh upgraded and presented to the participants of the EBTT organised 2013.

Modélisation du champ électrique dans les tissus biologiques en vue de la plantification d'électro-chimiothérapie

Dr.Selma Corovic was invited by the University of Sidi-Bel-Abbes in Algeria to give a lecture on the foundings (obtained within this research project) in the field of modeling of biophysical phenomena that occur in biological tissues due to exposure to electric pulses. She emphasised the importance of mathematical modeling in planing of electroporation based therapies such as electrochemotherapy.
