Passive houses in seismically active areas

A passive house is a building without heat bridges at its points of contact with the terrain. In recent years, small buildings have mostly been constructed using thermal insulation under a raft foundation. This method of foundation is well-established in Central European countries, where earthquakes are practically unknown. Most previous studies of these materials have been based solely on analyses of the effects of vertical loads.
