SEISMIC BEHAVIOUR OF MULTI STOREY PASSIVE HOUSES ON THERMAL INSULATION UNDER FOUNDATIONS

Paper examines the seismic behaviour of passive houses on XPS thermal isolation layers and reveails main parameters that influence the structural response.

Passive houses in seismically active areas

A passive house is a building without heat bridges at its points of contact with the terrain. In recent years, small buildings have mostly been constructed using thermal insulation under a raft foundation. This method of foundation is well-established in Central European countries, where earthquakes are practically unknown. Most previous studies of these materials have been based solely on analyses of the effects of vertical loads.
