At the national forum of invovations our service qualified for exposition. Our innovation is a service which validly, objectively and reliably evaluates neuromuscular functions of the lower torso, and on the basis of obtained results formulates scientifically grounded prevention and/or therapeutic measures. Such a service is extremely important for the good-quality and objective treatment of people with back pain.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536354244Textbook has been a product of research experiences and knowledge gained during the research collaboration with an industry partner in the project and several chapters has ben written by leading experts in specific fields. The book is focusing on the problematic of prevention and rehabilitation of low back pain. The emphasis is on integration of knowledge about functional anatomy, modern diagnostic methods and risk factors related with different work demands. Guidelines for effective ergonomic solutions and for better exercise prevention and rehabilitation programs are given. The book is therefore appropriate for physiotherapists, kinesilogists and also other profiles engaged in health and safety at work.

COBISS.SI-ID: 273523712Project was presented at TV broadcast “Dobra ura z Bernardo” at Slovenian national television. The topic of the broadcast was the pain and the project was presented in context of low back pain with presentation of main researches conducted in the project. The emphasis was on research of effects of different occupational demands on neuromuscular functions of the trunk that was conducted in collaboration with Luka Koper. The topic has been presented to a broad public in the broadcast Dobro jutro on the national Television.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536302020Low back pain is one of the most common health problems nowadays. In the individuals with low back pain numerous alterations in neuromuscular functions of the trunk can be observed. Aetiology of low back pain is complex and often depends on psychosomatic status. Therefore, it is important to understand the biomechanical characteristics, which are altered in low back pain patients. Objective assessment of these alterations allows detection of acause or a consequence of low back pain. Even though studies demonstrated changes in neuromuscular functions of the trunk in low back pain patients, is this kind of assessment limited to the research and is not used in a clinical practice. The purpose of this paper is to present the technical characteristics of the integrated measurement system for valid and objective assessment of the trunk neuromuscular functions, which was developed as part of the research project carried out between the university and the industry. We also empirically and graphically present a case study of one whole measurement on a young healthy person. At the end of the paper we discuss practical solutions for health and sport institutions when treating low back pain patients.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536135620Riding a unicycle could have an effect on the development of trunk neuromuscular functions. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the effect of unicycling course on trunk maximal voluntary strength and trunk stability functions. In the training group, maximal voluntary isometric force improved at a statistically significant level for all the measured tasks. After the training period, there was also a significant shortening of the onset latency of the back muscles to postural perturbation, while no change could be found in the timing of anticipatory postural adaptations. Due to a relatively short exercise intervention in the present study, the gain in trunk muscle strength is probably the consequence of improved neural activity that can be also seen as more vivid postural stabilization reflexes.
