1.
Thermoelectric ceramic materials and generators made thereof

Patent application describes development of new thermoelectric materials based on coherently intergrown layered cobaltates and design of thermoelectric modules based on them. Such intergrowth enables high degree of texturing without applying rigorous sintering methods and thus increases economic viability of material production.

Integrown thermoelectric layered cobaltates

We showed that the sheets of octahedrally coordinated Co ions, which are the common structural element of NaxCoO2 and Ca3Co4O9 phases allow spontaneous intergrowth of the two structures leading to significant improvement of environmental stability. Furthermore coherent intergrowth of the two structural types results in effective texturing in polycrystalline material with the preferred grain growth aligned in-plane with common CoO6 layers thus allowing high electrical conductivity.
