The efficiency of a closed-loop chemical-free water treatment system for cyprinid fish farms

In 2011 a pilot system of water treatment for the fish-farm at WWTP Ajdovščina was constructed based on the previous lab experiments. The results show efficient reduction of TSS, BOD5, COD, NH4-N and TP, while removal of NO3-N, NO2-N was not that efficient. Ultrasound effectively hindered the growth of algae. We also registered higher fish yield in the pond with treated water vs. control pond.
