1.
Structural changes of artificially aged textiles after inoculation with the selected "museum" fungi.

Biodegradation of natural textile fibers due to fungi was investigated. After isolation and determination of fungi from museum textile specimens, artificially aged textile samples were inoculated. Structural changes were determined by FTIR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy, with which significant changes were observed.

Biomimetic system for removal of fungal melanin staining on cultural heritage objects.

Fungal-caused melanin staining is a problem on many cultural objects. Due to insolubility and resistance to bleaching melanin may leave behind undesirable stains, even long after the fungal infestation has been controlled. The results on bleaching of melanin with biomimetic copper-pyridine complex, as an excellent tool for removal melanin staining, were presented.
