Natural and cultural heritage practices in Triglav National Park

The following paper comprises a discussion of the theoretical and methodological challenges to shedding light on the complex reality of heritage production, maintenance and preservation in Triglav National Park. The author assesses the extent to which a multi-site ethnography enables the identification and analysis of the tensions, opportunities and challenges that define the reality of cultural and natural heritage within this protected area.

Creators, researchers, and users of intangible cultural heritage

Cultural heritage has long been an object of research Slovenian ethnology. However, in the present day it is not solely an eminent object of ethnological research or the means of national struggle; on a global scale cultural heritage has become an appreciated blue chip of those states bound by the Unesco Convention. The significance of cultural heritage therefore does not depend only on the evaluations of researcher but also on heritage’s creators and users. Never has cultural heritage so clearly represented challenging topic for all the humanities and for society at large.
