Natural processes or natural hazards?

The lecture was one of the key notes at the Conference of Slovenian Geographers at Bled, 3 – 5th October 2013. The geomorphic dynamics (i.e. floods, landslides, rock fall etc.) in Slovenia, especially in its mountain areas was presented. The knowledge on these processes is of crucial importance in the spatial planning of human activities in order to avoid future casualties and material damage.

The opportunties for a new policy: environment and climate change

The leader of this basic research project, Dušan Plut in the interview revealed the extent of the climate and other environmental changes in Slovenia. He emphasized the urge to adapt to these changes also in the state policy – within the adequate legislation and also at the level of measures which will contribute to the ease pf the negative impacts of the environmental changes.

The overview and interpretation of data on mteorological parameters in the wider area of Trst in the period 1851 - 2012

The important meteorological data for Trst climate station were analyzed, for the period 1851 – 2012. In the interpretation, the trends at the level of parameters were presented and the results were applied to the wider area of Trst. The study is important in recognition of the climate of the coastal Slovenia and will be partially also used in this basic research project.
