Are older men learning in voluntary associations in the urban community of Ljubljana?

In the paper a quantitative survey of state-of-the-art about non-formal and informal learning in voluntary associations (VAs) in selected quarters in Ljubljana was conducted to assess the available activities of VAs and the share of older men among members. Semi-structured interviews and a focus group were also used in selected case studies of VAs, where the majority of members were older men.

Employment vs. employability

In a panel discussion: Competition or the necessary complementarity of knowledge, competence, experience and personal characteristics acquired in various pathways … for greater employability of graduates, which was held 2015 May 29th Faculty of Humanities, University of Primorska, the terms employment and employability were clarified in the relation to unemployment and job recruitment, where the connection was made between non-formaly acquired knowledge and individual’s employability.

The interdependence of social inclusion and non-formal learning

In the international conference, based on data, the connection between lower educational attainment and participation in formal education as well as in non-formal education was shown. Due to the characteristics and special features of non-formal and informal learning the two are an appropriate way to address the issue of social exclusion.

Formal and non-formal knowledge and competences in information society Formalno i neformalno znanje i kompetencije u informacijskem društvu

In the international conference about adult education a paper was presented about the meaning of formal and non-formal knowledge, their relationship, and their meaning in today’s society. The value of work is changing, and therefore the meaning of education and importance of non-formal knowledge, skills and competences come forth.

Community with corporations for better employability of the graduates.

The article aims at encouraging the connections between academic world, world of creativity and transfer of the newest knowledge to younger generation, and the world of its application and implementation in the products of high added value. The article intends to raise awareness and encourage responsibility and active cooperation of different businesses and corporations to engage themselves in the processes of non-formal learning and acquisition of key competences of a good employability (already) in students.
