A comparative look at the operation of selected areas of the public sector in Slovenia

The main purpose and goal of the scientific monography is to set a mirror to the selected segment of our public sector. This should allow researchers and professionals, which are in some way involved in the development of the Slovenian public sector, to facilitate the diagnosis of the current situation and finding the best solutions for the future. The global financial and economic crisis will bring long-term dramatic consequences for the further development of the public sector around the world and no less in Slovenia. Monography fills a gap in research and system development issues of the Slovenian public sector. Included are comparative views mainly on the system solution of EU Member States and Slovenia, as they are in the European Union diverse models of public sector solutions, experience and good practice that we can at the appropriate critical evaluation of real help in finding better solutions for our environment. At the urgent rationalization of the public sector will also be other solutions that will streamline, yet effective and efficient, ensuring preservation of the essence of the welfare state growth and quality of public services.

Management of IT outsourcing relationships in the public sector - material and procedural aspects

Paper analyses the material, procedural and other relevant aspects within the process of IT outsourcing in Slovenian municipalities. Research provides an overview of potentially positive and negative implications of outsourcing on public sector organizations and presents a contextual framework and a set of applicable guidelines for management of IT outsourcing in the public sector.
