The Bolzano/Bozen Recommendations on National Minorities in Inter-State Relations, Minority Rights and Trends in Minority Protection

In addition to already presented scholarly contents that are also socially and economically relevant results of the project, this chapter indicates the direct cooperation with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities as well as the contribution of the member of the research team to the elaboration and development of these recommendations and standards of the international protection of national minorities in inter-state relations.

The contribution analyzes the regulation and importance of political and social participation of national minorities and their members in plural and diverse societies, paying special attention to the collective and individual nature of these minority rights. It presents comparative analysis of the regulation and practice of the protection of national minorities and their participation in the successor states of the former SFRY, comparing them with the international and European standards. It explores how these experiences and practices can be important for national minorities in general.
