The role of gender in the process of bereavement after suicide of someone close.

Gender differences of bereaved after suicide have been studied on cognitive, emotional, behavioral, social and physical levels. The study showed similarities and differences in the gender specific dynamics of bereavement, which can lead to some suggestions of the necessary help for the bereaved.

Gender role in bereavement after the death of a close family member

We will present the result of intra-psychic and interpersonal dynamics of bereavement between the male and female population, with emphasis on male bereavement. I will highlight how attachment to the deceased is connected with the mourning process, which coping strategies the mourners use with emphasis on social network and what kind of expert support programs are suitable for them.

The role of the professional help for bereavements after the death of a close family member.

The article presents different levels of communication as the most appropriate forms of professional help to the bereaved of both genders: active supportive listening, counseling and therapy, in which the emphasis is on solving complications in mourning and on transformation of the existing patterns of facing the losses, acquired within the family of the bereaved.
