Dynamics and patterns of karst aquifer evolution

Invited lecture at the conference "Carbonate Geochemisty: Reactions and Processes in Aquifers and Reservoirs" ,Billings, Montana, ZDA. A review of attempts and results of speleogenetic modelling was given, particularly focusing on geometries of conduit systems as a result of different speleogenetic processes and mechanisms.

Acta carsologica. Gabrovšek, Franci (editor-in chief, 2011-)

Acta carsologica is one of the main international karstological journals. It is indexed by several international bibliographical bases, including SCI. It IF is between 0.55 and 0.75. The journal is known for its wide range of contributors and topics. In recent years increasing number of paper on modelling in karstology have been published. The journal is one of the main pillars supporting the leading role of Slovene karstology.

Blob based method of fundamental solutions for creeping flow problems

We present in the invited lecture development of method of fundamental solutions based on blobs for multiphase Stokes flow problems. The essence of the method is analytical reformulation of the fundamental solution arround singularity in sense of analytical smoothing. The results are extremly complicated expressions for modified fundamental velocity and pressure. We present 2D, 3D and axisymmetric version of the method. The advantage of the method is its non-singular character.

Organisation of International Karstological School

Since 1993 the Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU has regularly organized the International Karstological School. With approximately 150 participants it is the biggest annual meeting of karstologists in the world. Each year the main topic is selected and presented by keynote lectures, posters and field excursions. The Project leader Franci Gabrovšek has been a member of organising committee in all events since 1996 and leader or co-leader of the organisation in 2001, 2009, 2012, and 2013. The topics of the latter two were directly related to the project. In these events Gabrovšek was also a keynote lecturer.

Organisation of session "Modelling in Karst and Cave Environments" within 16th International Congress of Speleology, Brno 2013

International Speleological Congress is the largest meeting of karstologists and speleologists, organised quadrennially by the International Union of Speleology. A session "Modelling in Karst and Cave Environments" was organised and led by Franci Gabrovšek, who also presented a talk on modelling speleogenesis at the transition between pressurised and free surface flow.
