The evidence of »brown fields«

First results and inventory of “brown fields” in Slovenia were presented on the national conference. Distribution, typology, number, size and other characteristics of degraded areas were presented. The public response was extremely positive and strong interest from local and regional stakeholders is a clear singe that this topic should be more systematically evaluated.

On the field of environment regeneration and protection characteristics of natural ecosystems together with engineers approaches should be implemented; the aim is reducing of pollution and establishment of sustainable ecosystems. Brown fields are more and more often included in complex planning and revitalization of space.

Inventory of water resources in Bela krajina

Systematic inventory of water resources in Bela krajina was done by project members from Department of Geography in 2010. The Bela krajina region has serious problems with shortage of drinking water; therefore the sustainable use of water resources for future sustainable development is crucial for future development of regions with limited water resources.
